Government of Pakistan, under the Ministry of Maritime Affairs, has announced several key technical job vacancies within the Directorate General Port & Shipping Wing, Karachi, and the Mercantile Marine Department, Karachi. These appointments will be made on a contract basis according to the MP Scale Policy 2020 for an initial three-year term, extendable up to five years based on performance evaluations.

Ministry of Maritime Affairs has invited applications to fill up the vacant posts of Principal Officer – Mercantile Marine Department (MP-II Scale), Chief Engineer & Ship Surveyor – DG (Ports & Shipping Wing) (MP-II Scale), and Engineer & Ship Surveyor – Mercantile Marine Department (MP-III Scale).

Principal Officer – Mercantile Marine Department:

Required Qualifications & Experience:

• Certificate of Competency as First Class Engineer or Master of a Foreign Going Ship.
• At least 3 years as Chief Engineer (373 BHP+) or Master of Ship, or relevant equivalent roles.
• Experience as Engineer/Ship Surveyor or Nautical Surveyor in a recognized classification society.
• Preferably 2 years’ experience as Examiner of Marine Engineers or Masters and Mates.

Maximum Age Limit:

• 62 years

Chief Engineer & Ship Surveyor – DG (Ports & Shipping Wing):

Required Qualifications & Experience:

• Certificate of Competency as First Class Engineer.
• Minimum 3 years as Chief Engineer (373 BHP+).
• Experience in roles such as Engineer/Ship Surveyor.
• Preferably 2 years as Examiner of Marine Engineers.

Maximum Age Limit:

• 62 years

Engineer & Ship Surveyor – Mercantile Marine Department:

Required Qualifications & Experience:

• First Class Engineer Certificate (Combined or Motor).
• At least 2 years of experience as Chief Engineer (373 BHP+), or 1 year with Extra First Class Certificate.

Maximum Age Limit:

• 62 years
